About Mahalia Freed, Naturopathic Doctor

Health. It’s a powerful word and a wonderful state of being.
I believe that within each person is an innate capacity to establish, maintain, and restore their own health,” Dr. Mahalia Freed says. “My role – and my great passion as an ND  – is to help people access this potential by choosing treatments that support the body’s inherent healing capability.”

Dr. Freed customizes your care. In her family practice, Mahalia draws on a range of resources – including nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, acupuncture, and counselling – according to your unique needs. While her practice is both eclectic and inclusive, she has a special focus in women’s health, including breast health, hormone-balancing, fertility and perinatal care, as well as a commitment to LGBTTTIQ wellness.

After obtaining her undergraduate degree in Applied Human Health Sciences from the University of Guelph, Mahalia completed her medical training at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM). She is a member of the Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors, and is licensed by the Board of Directors of Drugless Therapy – Naturopathy. A guest lecturer at CCNM, Mahalia is also a sought-after speaker, with recent topics including therapeutic nutrition for breast health and the impact of stress on the digestive system. She is a certified Healthy Breast Program Teacher, and a member of the Rainbow Health Network and the Women’s Healthy Environments Network.

Mahalia has been interested in naturopathic medicine for as long as she can remember, and feels blessed to be doing something she loves for a living. Her experiences with naturopathic care as a child dramatically improved her own health, and sparked the passion for holistic health care that now fuels her professional practice and spurs her to seek out continued education opportunities whenever possible. A devoted cyclist, Mahalia rides her bicycle everywhere, (almost) all year long. Otherwise, you’re likely to find her visiting her favorite herbs along High Park’s forest paths, or enjoying the abundance of her local organic farmer’s market.
